Call the fire department!
1 / 5.0
I bought my Honeywell heater to use in my office in the winter. It worked okay for the first season, but I had it plugged into a power strip and you had to keep checking the strip to make sure it wasn't getting too hot. Even so, one power strip started smoking and burned. A colleague borrowed the heater and plugged it directly into the wall, and later, smoke and sparks started to pour out of the outlet! The electrician said the entire outlet had melted and burned inside the wall. Needless to say, I have now thrown the heater away. I wouldn't recommend this product unless you live next door to the fire station.

I was just looking to buy a 2nd oned and was shocked to see all the bad reviews. I guess some are good and some bad. I've had mine for 5 years and have had no problems with it at all. It's a little champ! I guess i'm warned that the 2nd may not be so great (:(
seems designed to fail prematurely

Since the space for air flow between the metal fins is so fine, this heater becomes completely clogged with dust in two seasons (two winters) of use and effectively becomes useless. Were it designed with cleaning/servicing in mind, this wouldn't be a problem, as all fan-forced heaters become clogged with dust eventually, but this one is RIVETED shut, the rivets being placed down deep holes, making them inaccessible. Reaching the internal works for cleaning without sawing open the unit is impossible. How cynical or incompetent could someone be to design a unit which will so rapidly become unserviceable? Don't waste your money on this model -- choose a heater designed with accessible internal works.
Greatest Little Heater!

I have used this for a couple of seasons, and it is great! It is very small, but puts out a lot of heat for its size. Very convenient to take to different rooms as needed.

This little heater is perfect if you need to heat a room on a cold night. When winter rolled around I knew I needed a heater in the bedroom to stand the cold without making the gas bill skyrocket by heating the entire house. My bedroom is VERY large, so I was a little skeptical when I pulled out this tiny little heater, but it was only about $20-$25 so I tried it out. In about an hour my bedroom was nice and toasty, and I didn't have to worry about it getting too hot because the heater shuts off periodically depending on the setting you place it on. After that I used it every night through the winter and sometimes autumn without fail, and it's still going strong for me 4 years later. I don't understand why there are people complaining about this heater not heating their entire house (That's not its function! Use your thermostat!) or that they can't make it run nonstop (that's dangerous), although it practically runs nonstop on the highest level settings.
The only complaints that are reasonable (and the reason I didn't give it a full 5 stars) are the ones that say:
1) It's noisy. Yes, it is pretty loud when you first turn it on, and might wake you if you're a really light sleeper when it turns on again during the night. For the most part if you are already asleep I think you'll sleep through it. You'll notice when it turns on and off again if you're awake, but it doesn't take long to tune the sound out, unless you put it on a low lvl setting (which seems to turn it on and off more frequently).
2) There is no "Off" switch. I took the advice of someone who said just "Turn it all the way down" and when I did that I noticed it never came on when I was at home, but my husband is a pit more paranoid than me and feels the need to unplug it when we leave for work.
3) There is not a lot of space between the base and heating grill, which can get hot if you're running it on a high setting. I put it on a little stool or table to keep it off the thick carpet, and that seems to work fine as well as making me warm more quickly.
I believe the people who have had bad experiences with it breaking, but I can honestly say that I have had no problems with it even though I use it daily during the winter, and it has saved me a bundle in gas bills. Definitely worth the buy if you're looking for an inexpensive and efficient little heater.
